At Golden West Middle School, our Science courses are designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). NGSS empowers students to make sense of the world around them. Students do not just memorize a set of facts, but rather, engage in figuring out how and why things happen. Amplify Science is a phenomena-based science curriculum that blends hands-on investigations, literacy-rich activities, and interactive digital tools. Core ideas in Life Science, Earth & Space Science, and Physical Science are intentionally arranged so that students can build their understanding over time and see connections between different ideas and disciplines. Hands-on laboratory exercises are an integral component of our courses and are provided to assist students in understanding the disciplinary core ideas of these science domains.
