6th GRADE SOCIAL SCIENCE-Ancient Civilizations The study of ancient world history and geography, including the earliest humans, the development of early civilizations like Sumer, Egypt, India, China, Greece, and Rome, and the emergence of civilizations in Mesoamerica. Students learn about the geographic settings that supported these civilizations, their social and economic structures, cultural aspects such as language, religion, and politics, and the significant historical events within these ancient cultures.
7th GRADE SOCIAL SCIENCE- World History Medieval and Early Modern times will be the focus of this course. Students will explore units of study on the fall of Rome, the Islamic world, West African civilizations, Asian civilizations, medieval Europe, renewal in Europe: Renaissance, Reformation, and Scientific Revolution, civilizations in the Americas, and the early modern world: age of exploration, enlightenment, and revolution. Students will use a variety of instructional materials and technologies. Students will also examine the factors that have contributed to our way of life. Our studies will enable students to make connections to our changing world.
8th GRADE SOCIAL SCIENCE- U.S. History The early United States history will be the focus of this course. Students will explore units of study on the connections with past learnings, the revolutionary era, the Constitution of the United States, the early republic, the age of Jackson and Westward Expansion, the society and culture before the civil war, sectionalism and the civil war, the reconstruction era, industrial and economic growth, and the progressive era. Students will use a variety of instructional materials and technologies. Students will also examine the factors that have contributed to our way of life. Our studies will enable students to make connections to our changing world.
